Augustine
Author(s): Melanie Watt
Augustine, who is named for the French painter Pierre-Aguste Renoir, is a little penguin who moves to the North Pole. This shy, artistic soul faces the fears common to many kids who move, including the fear of fitting in at a strange new school. Augustine draws to communicate her experiences and feelings, and also produces 'penguinised' versions of masterpieces from well known artists. Thus, children are introduced to many renowned paintings and painters at the same time they are shown it is alright to be different and that everyone has a place, and a part to play, wherever they are.
