The Bedside, Bathtub & Armchair Companion to Lewis Carroll

Author(s): Sadi Ranson-Polizzotti

Poetry

This book in the acclaimed "Bedside" series is not only for those who are new to the topsy-turvy world of Carroll, but for those who have already fallen down the rabbit hole and wish to learn more about Carroll as writer, logician, photographer, Deacon at Christ Church, and the man behind the 'nonsense'. Lewis Carroll, born Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832-1898), the famed author of "Alice in Wonderland", "Alice Through the Looking Glass" and "What She Found There, The Hunting of the Snark", and many other works, remains among the most widely read, quoted, and bestselling authors in the world. "Alice in Wonderland" alone has been translated into 121 languages. More than the author of children's books, Carroll was a great mathematician, whose work in this field is in print to this day. He also was one of the most important photographers of Victorian times as well as an ordained Deacon.Among the many insights of this book is an exploration of a form of epilepsy that Carroll was diagnosed with in his lifetime, which will bring a new understanding to this often misunderstood genius."
The Bedside", "Bathtub" and "Armchair Companions" are concise, witty, and often unexpected takes on the great authors and other figures who are seemingly all around us, like the air we breathe. Perfect for reading or browsing, for the general reader, for the beginning as well as the advanced student, the "Bedside", "Bathtub" and "Armchair Companions" include plot summaries (no giveaways for the mystery writers!), biographical information, puzzles, posters, film stills, maps, Web sites, international clubs and societies, and more.
